End of Summer Check List

I can't believe it's September. We had a busy summer. We continued with our home renovation, we went on two shopping trips for the store and planned a new collection. Now it's time to get in gear for the upcoming fall. I'm happy to say we've managed to cross off everything on our end of summer to-do list!

Finish painting at home. Check!

If you've been following this blog you know that the two front rooms on the second floor needed to be painted. Well they're done! We'll be getting these rooms furnished in the next few weeks. Perfect timing. Now when the cooler weather comes we'll have our media room set up. It'll be very cosy watching movies and TV shows on our Seda Sofa. Also, we have family and friends from out of town who want to come visit. Well, our guest room will now be ready for them!

Before shots: above is our media room painted in pink; below is the guest room in a pale periwinkle blue paint. If you look closely (below) you can see a major crack in the corner. The walls all over the house had lots of cracks in them. These have all been repaired.

The new paint colors: Benjamin Moore HC172 Revere Pewter (above) in the media room; Benjamin Moore 2061-70 Caribbean Mist (below) in the guest bedroom. Notice the corner below...no crack!

Get the fence repaired. Check!

We're having our fence in our yard replaced along the south property line, as well as, the fence along the canal tow path. New fence posts have already been put in. It should be all done by next week. Yay! That will allow us to have our patio installed. Also we can have some shrubs and trees planted before the first frost. That way we'll be all set for next spring's planting season.

The new fence post were installed. Now you can really see how dilapidated the old white picket fence is. (The old boards were temporarily screwed on so Siri won't wander off.) The fence will be finished in the next week or so.

Fix the ceiling in the dining room. Check!

While you'll have to wait to see the "after" photo, our leak problem that ruined the ceiling in our dining room will be fixed this week. This will be a minor inconvenience, as the work will create more dust (Ugh!), but it will be good to get it taken care of...

That spot in the ceiling of our dining room.

Paint the store for Blue Raccoon's new fall collection. Check!

We're very excited about the fall collection. The store has been painted just in time to receive all of the great new merchandise we've picked out over the last few months. Every week there will be new things arriving. So drop on by...and visit often, as there's something new arriving every week during this time of year!

Almost ready for the new merch!

We love what we do. Heading into our busy time we always look forward to sharing all of the great things we've found in our travels. Until next time, have a great end of summer. We'll leave you with one more image of summer on the canal.

I'm looking forward to having one of these planted in our yard after we get our fence repaired. Crepe Myrtle does really beautifully along the canal.

Note: We will be taking a break from blogging for the next two weeks. We'll be back in mid-September with a special post where we'll look at beautiful things that inspire us.
